Joe Shilkin was one of the pioneers of the Australian Organisation for Quality in Victoria and was regarded as one of the pioneers of the Australian Organisation for Quality in Victoria. He wrote and lectured about quality.
It is therefore quite appropriate that this award is named after Joe, as its two-fold purpose is:
To recognise persons who have made a notable contribution to Australian quality practice through publication of an original paper on quality or related topics. and To encourage AOQ members’ careers in quality, to develop their written communications skills and to disseminate their knowledge of quality technology for the benefit of others.

All award nominees are evaluated by a committee consisting of representatives from the AOQ and business or research establishment as relevant.

Nominations must be in the hands of The Secretary Australian Organisation for Quality Inc. PO Box 1291 Blackwood South Australia 5051 by 30th July, in the year of nomination.
Please note: Nominations missing the cut off date will be held over and reviewed in the next year.
Awards shall be presented at a National Conference of AOQ Inc or on some other suitable occasion.
